If you insert a paper clip into it, it should manually eject the CD/DVD, even with the machine. If the CD/DVD discs still won't eject after pressing the manual eject button, remove the bottom housing, and then replace the bottom housing ensuring that the center tab of the bottom housing is properly aligned. There is usually a small hole in the front of the drive.

If you don't, you will not be able to mount any subsequent discs that are inserted after you use the emergency eject button. Ejecting a disc from the Mac is a little bit different, too, whether it's a CD, DVD, USB flash drive, shared network disk, iDisk, iPod, or external hard. Note: Once you use the eject button to eject a CD, you must restart the iMac in order to restore functionality of the CD/DVD drive. Note that the power must be on to eject a CD using this method. The button is located on the right side of the CD slot. If this fails to release the CD, there is an eject button which can be activated by a small, blunt object such as a paper clip. If you still can’t eject the disk, choose Apple menu > Shut Down. If the CD is not a bootable disc, simply wait for the iMac to boot and drag the CD icon to the trash can. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > Log Out, then log in again. If you wish to eject a bootable CD-ROM disc at startup, simply hold down the mouse button until it ejects. At this point, just release the mouse button and it will remove the eject icon from your menu bar.The CD/DVD eject mechanism is electrical rather than mechanical on the iMac. You can either drag it left or right to reposition it, or drag it down and off the menu bar until you see a small “x” icon appear. Simply hold the Command key on your keyboard and click and hold on the eject icon. If you want to remove the eject icon later, or if you don’t know how it got there in the first place, you can rearrange or remove it via the same method as any other menu bar icon. As mentioned, this works even if you don’t currently have an optical drive connected, in which case clicking on the eject icon will report No Drives. Click on it to see which optical drive it detects and you can then click on the desired disc to eject it. This will immediately add the eject icon to your menu bar. Enter the following location: /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/.

Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Shift-Command-G In the Computer window, select the icon for the disc drive that is stuck, right-click the icon, and then click Eject. Replace the non-powered USB hub with a powered USB hub.
